The immersive experience promises to be an unforgettable celebration for all the family.

The Polar Express will be stopping in Devon this year as South Devon Railway announces new dates for the immersive festive experience.

Inspired by the 2004 classic Christmas film, The Polar Express Train Ride promises to be an "unforgettable celebration” for all the family.

The experience begins at Buckfastleigh Station where families with a “magical” Golden Ticket are invited to board one of South Devon Railway’s heritage steam trains - in pyjamas, of course.

Dancing chefs will then greet guests with mugs of “hot, hot hot chocolate” and milk chocolate cookies (vegan and nut-free options available) before a live reading is performed of the original Polar Express story.

Families will have the chance during the journey to sing along to iconic songs, meet characters from the film, and even say hello to Father Christmas!

It’s understood the experience lasts approximately one hour, with the train completing a round trip to return to Buckfastleigh Station. There are optional activities at the station both before and after the journey, including posting a letter to the North Pole, meeting the elves, and visiting the gift shop.

The Polar Express departs several times a day between Fridays and Sundays from November 27 to December 20, with additional rides on December 21, 22, and 23.

Tickets cost between £35.95 and £52.95, depending on the time of departure, for both adults and children.

Children under two seated on an adult’s lap cost an additional £5 each.

You can book tickets here, but be quick - many dates have already sold out!
