Exeter’s Historic Guildhall has been decorated with hundreds of knitted poppies in preparation for Remembrance Sunday.

The handmade poppies were first created to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War and were previously displayed inside Exeter Cathedral in 2017.

Now, in a new location inside the Guildhall in the centre of the city, they serve to remind residents of the sacrifices made by so many.

The poppies will be on display until November 12, after Armistice Day.

Two Remembrance Sunday Services are set to take place in Exeter this Sunday, November 8.

The City of Exeter’s service, attended by the Lord Mayor, Councillor Gemma Rolstone, is understood to begin at 10:30am in Northernhay Gardens.

A Devon County Remembrance service will then be held at 4pm inside Exeter Cathedral. Both events are free to attend, and no pre-booking is required. You can read more about each service here.
