Exeter residents are invited to take part in a range of free family activities in the city this weekend.
Guildhall Shopping Centre is celebrating its 50th birthday with two days of entertainment, special guests, and giveaways.
The shopping centre was officially opened in 1976 by Princess Alexandra - a cousin of Queen Elizabeth II. It is now understood to be one of the largest shopping destinations in Devon and Cornwall.
Owned by Exeter City Council, the shopping centre will be “kicking festivities off” this Friday, November 6 with a giant interactive birthday cake attraction.
Shoppers will be able to enter draws to win vouchers and other prizes - such as a £50 Guildhall Shopping Centre gift card - enjoy a show from a close-up magician, and children can get their faces painted for free.
There will also be free goody bags and “sweet treats” on offer.
On Saturday, November 7, guests including the Hulk, Batman, Supergirl, and Spiderman will make an appearance.
There is also understood to be a free storytelling session and family treasure trail over the weekend.
Local community groups and causes will also be celebrated this weekend, including Children’s Hospice South West and Community Education Disability Action.
Exeter City Council say they hope “as many as people as possible” come along. You can find out more information here.
