Fireworks, witches, comedy, and more: What’s on in Exeter this weekend

Your guide to this weekend in and around Exeter: 7-8 November
From fireworks and drone displays to woodland adventures, live comedy and a rather characterful pottery exhibition, there’s plenty to keep you busy this weekend. Whether you’re planning a family outing or fancy something a little different, here’s what’s happening in and around Exeter.
1. Charity Firework & Drone Display at Westpoint (7 November)
Exeter’s biggest charity fireworks night returns, with 300 drones taking to the skies above Westpoint for the first time. Carrying their own pyrotechnics, they’ll create giant moving images as part of the South West’s largest pyro-musical fireworks display, choreographed to a galactic soundtrack. Add funfair rides, street food and bars, and you’ve got a great family night out. Every ticket helps keep Devon Air Ambulance flying. Gates open at 5pm; close at 7pm.
2. Double Locks Bonfire and Fireworks Night (7 November)
For a more intimate evening, head to the Double Locks for its annual bonfire and fireworks night. Expect live music from Exeter band Dirty Money, seasonal drinks, burgers and a hog roast, followed by fireworks at 7pm. The event starts at 5pm. Tickets must be booked in advance: £18.70 for adults, £16.50 for children under 16, or £64.80 for a family of four.
3. Room on the Broom Trail at Haldon Forest Park (On now until 3 January 2027)
Head to Haldon Forest for a family-friendly day out where you will join Witch and her friends on an enchanting festive trail. Along the way, young adventurers can use their magical reveal wands to find enchanted baubles hidden around the trail, helping Witch decorate her Christmas tree. Expect lots of interactive activities and familiar characters from the story. Head to the Haldon Forest Park Cafe afterwards for a cuppa and a slice of cake.
4. Milo Edwards: Catamaran (8 November)
What do you really want to know about your parents? In this show, comedian Milo Edwards explores his family history after discovering a box of old letters in his late mother’s wardrobe. Spanning his parents’ relationship and the 1980s, Catamaran is a funny, thoughtful look at what remains of a life – including some rather surprising revelations, and the mystery of Jim Lock’s catamaran. 7.30pm start at Exeter Phoenix.
5. Amanda Popham: Solo Exhibition (7–20 November)
Discover a new collection from celebrated British figurative potter Amanda Popham. Known for her distinctive hand-built figures, character jugs and narrative vessels, Popham combines playful modelling with delicate surface painting.
