Castle Fine Art in Exeter will host an exhibition by acclaimed painter Scarlett Raven to mark World Suicide Prevention Day (Wednesday 10 September).

Raven, a graduate of Central St Martins, is known for her bold impressionist style and textured landscapes. But after experiencing a breakdown last year, her work took a striking new direction.

Instead of her usual vibrant colours, she turned to pure white floral compositions, using texture alone to capture raw emotion.

The result was Beyond the Surface, a collection created during one of the most challenging periods of her life. Raven has pledged 10 per cent of sales from the collection to mental health charity Mind, raising over £10,000 so far.

“Without Mind, I don’t think I would be here,” Raven said. “Accessing their advice, services, and online support has been a lifeline during my breakdowns. I hope my donation helps them support others in the same way.”

The Exeter exhibition forms part of a UK tour of Raven’s work, following its successful launch in Birmingham earlier this year. Her practice, rooted in themes of honesty, hope and healing, has resonated strongly with audiences at a time when conversations around mental health are more important than ever.

Kathleen Miles, Executive Director of Fundraising at Mind, said: “We’re so grateful to Scarlett. Her generosity will make a real difference, helping us continue vital services such as our support line and online peer community.”

The exhibition will run until the end of September at Castle Fine Art, 48–49 High Street, Exeter. Entry is free, and 10 per cent of all sales from Beyond the Surface will continue to support Mind.
