An Exeter bus driver has been praised for his quick response after helping an elderly woman who was injured at the city’s bus station earlier this month.
The incident happened on the morning of Friday 10 October, when the woman reportedly fell and hit her head while making her way to a bus bay. The fall caused her glasses to break and left her with a deep cut.
Bus driver Ashton Worth, who has worked at Exeter Bus Station for nearly two years, immediately came to the woman’s aid. He called an ambulance, ensured she was supported and reassured, and arranged for a first aider and first aid kit to be brought to the scene.
Paramedics later arrived and took the woman to hospital, where she is understood to be recovering well.

Stagecoach South West confirmed the incident and commended Ashton for his calm and professional response. Katie Wagstaff, Operations Director, said: “We’re incredibly proud of Ashton and the way he handled the situation. His quick response and kindness made all the difference for someone in distress.”
Regular bus users at the station described the driver’s actions as “kind and reassuring,” with one passenger saying it was “a reminder that a bit of care and compassion can make a huge difference.”
