From K-pop to classic rock: Double bill for Torquay stage

Back-to-back performances bring global pop phenomenon and stadium classics to Babbacombe Theatre

Two back-to-back shows at the Babbacombe Theatre will bring K-pop spectacle and classic rock nostalgia to Torquay on 3 and 4 April.

On Friday 3 April at 3pm, K-POP KINGDOM promises an all-live concert experience featuring high-energy choreography, vibrant visuals and hits made famous by global stars including Blackpink, BTS and Twice. The setlist also includes Demon Hunters fan favourites such as Soda Pop and Golden.

Over the past decade, K-pop has grown from a South Korean music genre into a global entertainment movement, known for its infectious hooks, precision choreography and cinematic production values. Record-breaking music videos, sold-out arena tours and highly engaged fan communities have helped propel it into mainstream culture, influencing fashion, dance trends and social media worldwide.

Organisers say the Torquay show is designed as a fully live concert experience that captures the colour, charisma and energy of major K-pop tours in a format accessible to all ages. The 3pm start time is aimed at families and younger fans, with the genre’s recurring themes of confidence, unity and positivity forming part of the show’s appeal. Audiences can expect live vocals, dynamic choreography and opportunities to sing and dance along.

The following evening, on Saturday 4 April at 7.30pm, the theatre swaps light sticks for leather jackets as Nothing But A Good Time – The Rock Anthems Show takes to the stage.

Described as a full-throttle touring production, the show recreates the feel of a large-scale arena concert within a theatre setting, complete with big sound, bold lighting and high-impact staging. The band, who have performed together for several years, have built a reputation for tight musicianship and on-stage chemistry.

The setlist spans stadium rock classics from the 1970s and 1980s through to favourites from the 1990s and noughties - songs that became the soundtrack to road trips, festivals, house parties and headline arena tours. Audiences can expect powerful vocals, prominent guitar solos and the kind of anthems that typically have crowds on their feet from the opening number to the encore.

Tickets for both performances are available via the theatre’s website or from the box office on 01803 328385.
