Stand-up comedian Amy Matthews is bringing her award-nominated Edinburgh Fringe show to Exeter this month.
Her show, ‘Definitions of Toast’, received critical acclaim during its run at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe - the world’s largest performing arts festival - and is now touring across the country.
‘Definitions of Toast’ explores issues around neurodiversity, family dynamics, and feminine rage, according to Ms Matthews, who, through the show, “embarks on a quest to finally experience anger, whilst unpicking her pattern of falling in love with alcoholics and navigating the joy and vulnerability of queerness in her thirties”.
Ms Matthews’ previous work includes ‘I Feel Like I’m Made of Spiders’ and ‘Commute With The Foxes’. She has also appeared on Comedy Central Live and is a regular panellist on BBC Scotland’s ‘Breaking the News’.
Following the show’s run at the Edinburgh Fringe, ‘Definitions of Toast’ received nominations for ISH Edinburgh Comedy Awards for both Best Show and Joke of the Fringe.
Amy Matthews is set to appear at The Bootlegger, a speak-easy bar on Fore Street, on Saturday, October 31 at 7:30pm. You can purchase tickets here.
