After the brave brilliance of a last-minute victory at Lincoln City last weekend, ending a run of five defeats in the league, Exeter City now have the challenge of building some momentum to pull away from the relegation zone.
Few expected the Grecians to get anything from their trip to a Lincoln side riding high in the table but the late intervention from Kevin McDonald bagged three valuable points, and the weekend visit of Reading now brings a different type of pressure.
The Royals have also endured a stuttering start and a defeat for either side has the potential of dropping them into the relegation zone, if those around them pick up victories.
"I think they'll bring a real need to win some points,” City manager Gary Caldwell told the club website. “They're in a position that they probably didn't expect themselves to be in.
"They're a team that will be very hungry to win, and we are going to have to be at our very best to beat that challenge.
"We know that when we get it going at SJP, then it can be a really difficult place for teams to come. We have to make sure that we can try and turn those Huddersfield-type performances into wins."
