The King William Street footbridge is due to be closed for maintenance
People are being warned about the temporary closure of a pedestrian bridge connecting a multi-story car park and a city centre street in Exeter.
Exeter City Council will be carrying out essential engineering works to the King William Street footbridge, starting on Monday 20 April.
Works are expected to take around four weeks and will be carried out between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday due to people living nearby.
The pedestrian bridge connects the City Council-run John Lewis Car Park and Sidwell Street.
The John Lewis Car Park will remain open during the works and a safe diversion route set up for pedestrians. Those who wish to access Sidwell Street will have a little further to travel
Vehicles will still be able to use King William Street during the works, although one lane will be closed in and around the site.
The closure is necessary to ensure the safety of both the public and the workforce.
The City Council will be doing everything possible to minimise the inconvenience to those who use the footbridge, however it is essential that maintenance and repair work is carried out.
