Have you registered to vote?

The elections take place on Thursday 7 May.

The elections take place on Thursday 7 May.

Residents are being reminded to ensure they are registered to vote ahead of the Exeter City Council elections on Thursday 7 May.

The deadline to register to vote is midnight on Monday 20 April.

Anyone who is not registered will not be able to vote and will miss the opportunity to take part in local democracy.

The electoral register lists the names and addresses of everyone registered to vote. It is sometimes called the electoral roll.

Residents can register online in just a few minutes using the government’s register to vote service Register to vote - GOV.UK.

Anyone who has moved house or changed their name should also update their details.

Research shows some groups are less likely to be registered. This includes young people, students and people who have recently moved home.

Once registered, voters can choose how they cast their vote. They can vote in person, by post or by proxy.

Anyone voting at a polling station must bring an accepted form of photo ID. Most people already have suitable ID.

Anyone without accepted ID can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate. More information is available on the Electoral Commission website: Voter ID | Electoral Commission

Poll cards will be delivered to homes across Exeter in early April.
