LIVE: A30 closed due to flooding as heavy rainfall hits Devon

The A30 is currently closed westbound between Ottery Saint Mary and Exeter Airport following heavy rainfall, with drivers facing long delays.

Emergency crews are on site to manage traffic and clear standing water.

Devon Police have been in attendance. National Highways Traffic Officers and contractors are assisting with traffic management and clearing the flood water.

Diversions are in place for drivers. Motorists should follow the solid diamond diversion signs:

• Exit at Aller Grove and take the first exit onto B3174 London Road

• At roundabouts, take the second exit onto B3174 London Road

• Head south and join the Clyst Honiton Bypass

• At Exeter Airport roundabout, continue straight, then turn right at the next roundabout to re-join A30 westbound

Road users are advised to allow extra travel time and follow the signed diversion route.

11:20am – Devon Police confirmed to Exeter Today that they were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car on the westbound carriageway of the A30 near Fenny Bridges at around 8am today.

It was further reported that a second collision involving three vehicles occurred at the same location. Both carriageways were closed while emergency services managed the scene. There have been no reports of any injuries.

Police also confirmed that there was standing water in the area.

Flooding update: The westbound carriageway between Daisymount and Fenny Bridges has been closed due to flooding and is likely to remain closed until the water has subsided.
