Exeter producers, chefs, and hospitality businesses have been recognised at the 14th annual Food Drink Devon Awards. The event was held on Monday 6 October at Sandy Park, home of the Exeter Chiefs.
Several local chefs and food businesses were recognised at the awards for their contributions to Exeter’s thriving culinary scene.
Craig Beacham, Head Chef at Sandy Park Conference Centre, was named Chef of the Year for his work delivering high-quality local food at events across Exeter, including previous Food Drink Devon Awards ceremonies.

Other Exeter-based winners at the awards included chefs, producers, and hospitality businesses recognised for their contributions to the local food and drink scene.
Exeter-based Frobishers received the ‘Sustainability Pioneer Award’ for their environmental initiatives, with judges praising the company as “a prime example of how business can be a force for good.”
Becca Winmill, Operations Manager & Sustainability Lead, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have been named Sustainability Pioneer at this year’s Food Drink Devon Awards. It’s such an honour to be recognised alongside so many brilliant local producers.
“Sustainability has always been central to who we are at Frobishers from the way we source our fruit to how we bottle, package and deliver our drinks. This award is a wonderful acknowledgment of the progress we’ve made so far, and of our team’s shared commitment to doing things the right way.
“Looking ahead, we’re continuing to build on this foundation, exploring new ways to reduce waste, minimise emissions and champion thoughtful choices that support both people and the planet.”
The awards also recognised local restaurants and bars. Arcadia by Utopian, in Exeter, claimed the inaugural ‘Best Bar’ award, with judges noting the venue’s welcoming atmosphere and quality offerings.
A spokesperson from the Arcadia bar told Exeter Today: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have been named Best Bar at this year’s Food Drink Devon Awards! It’s a huge honour and a real testament to the hard work, creativity, and passion of the whole Arcadia team.”
“Exeter’s food and drink scene is thriving right now, and we’re proud to be part of such a vibrant, collaborative community that continues to push boundaries and celebrate local talent and produce. This award reflects not just what we do here at Arcadia, but the spirit of innovation and hospitality that defines our city.”
Meanwhile, The Heavi Deli was named ‘Best Retailer,’ celebrated for its friendly service and commitment to local, sustainable produce.
A spokesperson for the Heavi Deli told Exeter Today: “We were thrilled to receive the award. We have been overwhelmed by the support of our community in setting up the Heavi Deli.
“We are passionate about supporting produce from Devon and the South West and have worked hard to showcase so much great quality produce from the area. It is a privilege to be recognised for our work by Food Drink Devon who are leading experts in our field.”
Students from the Michael Caines Academy at Exeter College contributed to the event, preparing and serving drinks and canapés to the guests.The awards also celebrated a range of other local chefs, producers, and hospitality businesses.
