Exeter’s own Jude Hamer has been named in the Great Britain squad for the upcoming European Wheelchair Basketball Championships, which take place in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, from 10–18 October 2025.
Jude, who first discovered the sport with the Exeter Otters, made her GB debut in 2009 at the BT Paralympic World Cup. Since then, she has become a three-time Paralympian and will now compete in her eighth European Championships.

Reflecting on her latest selection, Jude said: “I’m honoured to be selected for the European Championships, especially after returning from having a baby 18 months ago. This is my proudest selection to date and I can’t wait to represent my country and my family.
The team is leaving no stone unturned in our efforts to be better than ever and to leave Bosnia following our most successful Europeans campaign yet. I wouldn’t be where I am today without my parents and my sisters who have always been by my side and in more recent years my fiancée and now our little boy. My family are my reason why.”
Alongside Jude, fellow Devon athlete Oscar Knight, from Kingsbridge, will make his senior GB debut. Oscar, who started out with Plymouth Fusion, has impressed in U23 competitions and now steps up to the senior stage.
The competition will see 24 GB athletes (across the men’s and women’s teams) competing against Europe’s best. The GB Men’s team enter the tournament as reigning champions after going undefeated in 2023, while the GB Women’s team, featuring Jude, will look to improve on their silver medal finish at the last Europeans.
Fixtures, livestreams, and results will be available via the British Wheelchair Basketball website.
