A new family-run café has opened in central Pinhoe, aiming to offer residents a community space the owners say is currently missing from the area.

The Robin’s Nest, run by Lizzie Woodgate, 37, and her husband Brett, 41, is an outdoor café featuring homemade cakes and coffee supplied from a company in Torquay.

“There is nothing like it in central Pinhoe, and we feel that we are bringing something new to the area,” Lizzie Woodgate said.

“We hope to provide a space where people can meet, take part in events, and connect with others, something that isn’t available at the moment.”

Lizzie said they hope The Robin’s Nest will give people, especially those who might feel alone, a space to meet others and connect.

They also want to provide somewhere for those who can’t venture too far to come and enjoy the café.

The café will host regular events, including Sunday morning coffee mornings designed to encourage locals to get out of the house and meet others. A fortnightly parents’ club and a dedicated children’s area are also planned.

Lizzie runs the café alongside her mother, Sally Gillis, 65, and her partner, Alan Hewitt, 60.

“It’s a family-run business and we live just up the road,” she added.

The Robin’s Nest is now open to the public and aims to become a hub for families and individuals looking for a community-focused café experience in central Pinhoe.

The Robin's Nest can be found at 54 Main Road, Pinhoe.
