Another 3,000 homes in Exeter will start receiving weekly food waste collections next month.
Exeter City Council confirmed the latest phase of its roll-out will begin on Monday 6 October in Newcourt and parts of St Loyes and Topsham.
The expansion means nearly 40,000 households, almost two-thirds of the city, will now be covered by the scheme.
Food waste collected is sent for anaerobic digestion, where it is turned into a soil improver and fertiliser, as well as generating electricity.

Cllr Ruth Williams, Lead Councillor for City Management, said the service has “proved popular” in areas where it is already running.
She added: “We are continuing to work hard to reach everyone as soon as we are able to and are looking to complete the rollout by the end of March 2026.”
Residents in the new collection areas will receive information packs and caddy stickers this week.
Deliveries of the 23-litre kerbside caddies and five-litre kitchen caddies will begin on 29 September.
Communal food waste facilities will be provided for properties with shared bins.
