The month-long event is one of Devon’s biggest festive traditions, attracting thousands of visitors each year. More than 100 chalets will line the historic Green, with a mix of West Country produce, hand-crafted gifts, global street food and themed bars.
The market opens at 10am on Thursday 20 November and closes at 9pm on Friday 19 December.
Monday to Wednesday: 10am - 7pm
Thursday to Saturday: 10am - 9pm
Sunday: 11am - 5pm
Exeter Cathedral itself will also be open under its Entry By Donation scheme during the market, although sightseeing will be restricted while services and events are taking place.
The Cathedral is open from 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday, and from 11.30am to 4pm on Sundays.
Organisers are encouraging visitors to make use of public transport where possible.
Park and Ride: Services operate from several sites into the city centre, though Matford does not run on Sundays or Bank Holiday Mondays.
Car parking: City centre car parks close to the market include Princesshay 2, Princesshay 3 and Guildhall. Drivers are advised to follow signs for City Centre parking.
Train: Exeter Central and Exeter St Davids stations are both within walking distance of Cathedral Green, with direct services from London, Bristol, Plymouth and across the South West.
On foot and bike: Exeter is pedestrian-friendly, with clear signage and bike parking available near the Cathedral.
The market has five entry points, four of which have step-free access.
Ramps are installed at the West Front steps for wheelchair users and buggies, and wide pathways are laid throughout to allow space for wheelchairs. Some chalets may have restricted access, but traders will assist where needed.
Security: A 24-hour security team will be on site throughout the market, with a security chalet located by the south exit.
Toilets: Accessible toilets are available at the market, with further facilities nearby at the Guildhall and Catherine Street.
Dogs: Dogs on leads are permitted in the open-air areas, while only assistance dogs are allowed inside the Cathedral.
The Cathedral Green market has become a cornerstone of Exeter’s festive season, combining shopping, food and entertainment in one of the city’s most recognisable locations.
