Persimmon Homes South West has secured a resolution to grant planning permission for 92 new homes in Cranbrook Town Centre, following a decision by East Devon District Council’s planning committee today.
The approval covers two applications: a full planning application for 61 homes and a reserved matters application for an additional 31 properties.
The development will include a mix of house types, landscaped areas, and supporting infrastructure.

Located just a short drive from Exeter, Persimmon says the scheme will provide high-quality, energy-efficient homes to meet local demand.
The properties will feature sustainable elements such as electric vehicle charging points and will be built to energy-efficient standards in line with Part L of the Building Regulations.
As part of the reserved matters scheme, over 28 per cent of the properties will be transferred to a local housing association for affordable rent and shared ownership.
The allocation is intended to address local housing need, with thousands of households currently on East Devon’s housing waiting list.
The development also incorporates measures to support biodiversity, including animal boxes, hedgehog highways, public open spaces, and tree planting.
Dan Heathcote, Managing Director of Persimmon Homes South West, said: “We’re delighted to have secured a resolution to grant for our proposals at Cranbrook Town Centre. This development will provide a range of high-quality new homes designed for local people, especially first-time buyers and families.
"Throughout the planning process, we have worked closely with officers and stakeholders at East Devon District Council to ensure our homes are in keeping with the local area and deliver real community benefit.
"Persimmon is proud to play a key role in Cranbrook’s development, supporting the delivery of key local amenities such as schools, retail spaces, community centres, sport pitches and allotments. Our commitment is to leave a positive and lasting legacy for the people and community of Cranbrook.”
