Residents, businesses and community groups are being invited to help choose a name for a new community planned on the outskirts of Exeter, near Exeter Airport and the A30.

East Devon District Council has launched a public consultation asking people to rank four potential names for the area, each inspired by local history, geography and feedback from earlier engagement.

The new development will sit in the west of the district, close to Westpoint Arena.

The council says the name will play a key role in shaping the identity and character of the new community, helping influence everything from signage and branding to how the area is promoted as it grows.

Cllr Todd Olive, East Devon’s Portfolio Holder for Place, Infrastructure and Strategic Planning, said: “This is a unique opportunity to help shape the identity of a new community in East Devon. The name we choose will reflect its roots in the local landscape and its aspirations for the future. We’re encouraging everyone with a connection to East Devon to have their say—be part of creating a lasting legacy from day one.”

The consultation follows previous public engagement on the layout and location of the new development. Each of the four proposed names comes with a short explanation of its significance, and respondents can rank them in order of preference.
