Alicante has been revealed as Exeter Airport’s most popular destination this summer, according to Ryanair.
The low-cost airline says Devon travellers are flocking to the Spanish hotspot for its mix of golden beaches, lively nightlife and historic old town. Alicante is one of four routes Ryanair is operating from Exeter this summer — and it’s topping the list for passenger bookings.
Jade Kirwan, Ryanair’s Director of Communications, said: “Summer is finally here and Alicante is proving a favourite with holidaymakers. Whether you want sun, sea, city, or all of the above, we’ve got a destination for you.”
And it’s not just Ryanair seeing a surge in demand. TUI recently added a second Boeing 737-800 to its Exeter base, allowing the tour operator to offer 50 flights a week to 13 sunshine spots including new routes to Ibiza and extended capacity to Greece, the Canary Islands and the Balearics.
With seat numbers up across the board and a diverse summer schedule, the airport is hoping for one of its busiest seasons yet.
