Popular hip hop act to stage free Exeter show

The Scribes are appearing in Exeter

The Scribes are appearing at The Old Firehouse in Exeter

For one night only Exeter's The Old Firehouse will be playing host to national touring act The Scribes.
The event will be the band's only show in Exeter this year and comes off the back of a huge few years for the group that have included stand out sets at Glastonbury Festival, Isle Of Wight, WOMAD, Boomtown, Latitude, Wireless and many more.
And even better ... entry to the event, on Friday November 1, is entirely free!

The Scribes are a multi-award winning hip hop act from Bristol whose unique talents have combined to make a trademark sound quite unlike any other, featuring a seamless blend of live instrumentation and sampling set against a backdrop of head nodding boom bap breaks.

One of the most in demand touring acts in the UK today, the group are known for critically acclaimed performances full of energy, beatboxing, crowd participation and off the cuff freestyling.

The group’s extensive touring has seen them collaborate and perform with some of the biggest names in the scene including Macklemore, Rudimental, MF DOOM, Dizzee Rascal, Lethal Bizzle, Example, De La Soul, Wu Tang Clan, The Pharcyde, Wiley, KRS One, Four Owls, Goldie, Sugarhill Gang and Chase and Status to name (drop) but a few.

The Scribes were the first UK artist signed with US label Kamikazi Airlines, co-owned by Dizzy Dustin of legendary hip hop act Ugly Duckling, releasing "The Sky Is Falling" LP and "The Scribes Present Ill Literature" LP worldwide to critical acclaim.

This success garnered the group a sponsorship deal with ethical clothing company THTC alongside huge names like Ed Sheeran and Foreign Beggars, before being followed up with the “A Story All About How” LP and the apocalyptic EP “Mr Teatime & The End Of The World” on Reel Me Records, the latter being named winner of the UndergroundHH.com “Concept Album of The Year” award.

Since joining Quill Equipped Records in 2019 The Scribes have released the “Quill Equipped Villainy” LP and “Totem Trilogy Pt 1” EP, featuring an array of talent including Akil the MC from Jurassic 5, Dizzy Dustin from Ugly Duckling, MC Duke, TrueMendous and Leon Rhymes from Too Many T’s, winning the group further acclaim alongside regular air play on BBC Introducing, BBC Radio 1Xtra and BBC Radio 6 Music.

During the 2021 Covid lockdowns The Scribes worked with The Get Down Records for the limited 7” clear vinyl “Stir Crazy/Haunted House Party”, before starting 2022 by signing with huge international agency Stimulus Management
