Garden renovation... 'we're lovin' it!'

Garden renovation... 'we're lovin' it!'

The task force during their efforts

McDonald’s Franchisee, David Shawyer, has partnered with local Exeter charity CEDA to help renovate and tidy up their garden space.

Joined by a crew of nine volunteers from his Exeter McDonald’s restaurants, David Shawyer and his team refreshed the communal area by jet-washing the patio, rebuilding the fencing and storage shed, painting and decorating, installing new seating, and rejuvenating the garden by weeding, and adding new plants and flowers that can be enjoyed throughout the year.

CEDA is an Exeter-based charity which provides learning and social opportunities to disabled people in Devon. The charity aims to empower adults, children and young people to take control of their own lives, increase their independence, develop knowledge and skills, and actively promote inclusion to move towards achieving equality for disabled people.

Mr Shawyer, who owns and operates nine restaurants across Devon, said: “Giving back to our local community is really important to me and my team, so I was delighted to help renovate the outdoor space at CEDA and make it a more pleasant space for the individuals who use the charity’s vital services. We can’t wait for our next project!”

Craig Bowden, Partnership and Marketing Manager at CEDA, said: “Everyone at CEDA is grateful for the support from David and his team. The volunteers worked really hard to revitalise our outdoor space, which is vital to the work that we do with adults and children with disabilities in the local community. We’ve already had lovely feedback and the flowers and benches are being admired and well used.”
