Exe Bridges and the proposed changes
February 7, 2019 - A jaw-dropping vision to build 12,000 new homes and a 'garden bridge' in Exeter was revealed by the city council.
Stunning artist's impressions revealed how some of the city's busiest areas could be transformed into leafy, pedestrianised neighbourhoods.
It was branded as the 20-year 'Liveable Exeter' vision, and highlighted a huge demand for affordable housing, outdoor spaces and cultural quarters at Exeter's ancient Roman entrances.
A Centre for Cities report at the time revealed Exeter was the sixth least affordable city in the country.
Liveable Exeter highlighted the property crisis while trying to solve transport challenges facing the city, proposing a need for residents to ditch cars and walk and cycle instead.
