As the DASLS Legal Awards 2025 fast approaches, tmGroup is shining a spotlight on emerging talent with its sponsorship of the Rising Star Award – a category that aligns closely with the company’s values of innovation, collaboration, and growth.
“This category really speaks to who we are as a business,” says Simon Wood, Sales Director. “At tmGroup, we care deeply about innovation, growth and supporting future leaders – and that’s exactly what the Rising Star Award is all about.”
Founded in 2001, tmGroup simplifies the property transaction process for law firms and professionals through technology that streamlines search, reporting, and transaction management. “Our platforms are designed to support law firms and property professionals by making things like property searches, reporting, and transaction management more efficient and less stressful,” Simon explains.
Whether through automation, integration, or minimising admin, tmGroup’s focus is on helping clients work smarter. Simon adds: “The property process can be complex and time-consuming, so our goal is to take some of that pressure off and make sure everything runs as smoothly – and securely – as possible.”
Sponsoring the Rising Star Award, he says, is an extension of that ethos. “It’s a fantastic opportunity to shine a spotlight on talented individuals who are making a real impact early in their careers. We're proud to help celebrate and encourage the legal professionals who are helping to shape the future of the industry.”
So what defines a rising star? “To me, a Rising Star is someone who not only knows their stuff technically, but also brings passion, curiosity, and a real drive to improve how things are done,” says Simon. “They stand out because they go above and beyond – not just for their clients, but for their teams too. They're innovators, collaborators, and leaders in the making.”
Simon says working with law firms is especially rewarding. “We work with some incredibly dedicated, sharp-minded professionals who are really committed to delivering for their clients,” he says. “There’s also a genuine appetite in the sector to evolve and embrace change – which makes it really exciting to be part of.”
When Simon says “digitisation,” the legal sector listens. “There’s a definite shift towards digitisation and automation, which is long overdue in some areas of the sector. Increasingly now, firms are recognising the value of streamlining their processes, reducing risk, and improving the client experience with the help of tech.”
He also highlights a growing focus on risk management and data protection, particularly in property transactions where precision matters. “AI and machine learning are beginning to play a bigger role, too – not to replace people, but to give legal professionals better tools and insights to work with.”
Innovation at tmGroup, Simon says, starts with listening. “We spend a lot of time understanding our clients’ challenges and pain points, and looking for ways tech can genuinely make a difference.” The company fosters a culture of innovation internally and continues to invest in its platforms, with new features and smarter integrations on the way.
“We’re always looking ahead and asking, ‘How can we do this better?’ That mindset keeps us moving forward.”
When it comes to managing risk, tmGroup offers law firms a comprehensive platform that combines property search data, due diligence tools and automated reporting. “By digitising these processes, we reduce manual errors and give firms a clearer and more reliable picture, faster,” says Simon.
That reliability is increasingly important as firms face pressures around regulation, turnaround times and client expectations. “That’s where the right tech can be a game changer,” he says. “It allows teams to focus on what really matters – delivering great service and outcomes for their clients.”
As for the upcoming DASLS Legal Awards, Simon says he’s looking forward to the Rising Star category most of all. “It’s genuinely inspiring to see the next generation coming through with so much skill and passion. I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone and sharing in their success.”
If the future of legal tech is bright, tmGroup are the ones making sure the spotlight’s in the right place.
