New independent deli opens in Princesshay

Hanlees brings fresh, locally sourced breakfast and lunch options to Exeter

New independent deli opens in Princesshay

This week, a new independent deli, Hanlees, opened its doors in Princesshay, bringing a fresh twist to Exeter's breakfast and lunch scene. Located next to POP Kitchen, the deli offers a delightful mix of quick and delicious food for both locals and visitors.

The concept for Hanlees was created by four friends - Hannah, Lee, Matt, and Rachel - who, after a shared passion for great food, decided in 2023 to launch a business serving "Quick Food for Foodies" in Exeter.

Hannah and Lee, the driving forces behind the venture, explained, “Our vision is to bring a proudly independent, casual dining venue, serving freshly prepared, locally sourced dishes that excite our customers' palates and hopefully get them coming back time and time again. We want customers to find something to eat that they really fancy every time they visit us.”

The deli’s menu will feature a variety of breakfast options, such as porridge, overnight oats, yoghurt, freshly baked pastries, fresh fruit, and breakfast sandwiches. For lunch, customers can enjoy a ‘help yourself’ salad bar, homemade soups and broths, hot pasta dishes, gourmet wraps and bagels, hot grilled sandwiches, and jacket potatoes with a range of tempting fillings.

Hannah Overton, Marketing and Commercialisation Manager for Princesshay, shared, “We are delighted to welcome Hanlees to the Princesshay family. It’s great to be able to add another local business to our foodie line-up, and we look forward to working with the team.”

Hanlees’ opening marks a new chapter in Exeter’s growing collection of independent eateries, offering fresh and exciting options for those seeking a satisfying meal in the heart of the city.
