Crediton-based photographer Fiona Crawford is giving her picture-perfect support for pups in need, helping to raise funds for pet charities both locally and globally.
Fiona, who specialises in equine and canine photography, recently contributed to the international book project Tails of the World, which unites pet photographers worldwide to support animal welfare.
Each participating photographer, including Fiona, captured portraits of ten dogs in their local area, donating their time and talent for free. Dog owners were asked to contribute funds to a charity of the photographer’s choice.
Fiona selected K9 Focus, a Devon-based rescue and rehoming charity, to benefit from her efforts. Her work not only raised £225 but also brought greater attention to K9 Focus by featuring them in the collaborative book.
“K9 Focus has evolved so much over the years, helping countless pets and people,” said Fiona. “It’s well known that charities are struggling for funding now. Anything I can do to help, no matter how big or small, for charities I believe in, will always be at the forefront of my business. I hope to raise even more next year - I’m already searching for my next ten dogs!”
Lynne Hall, founder of K9 Focus, shared that the funds will support their newest initiative, Pet Assist, which launched in October 2024. This programme provides financial aid to pet owners in need, helping them care for their animals rather than surrendering them due to hardship.
“Day-to-day activities are a challenge for us,” Lynne explained. “We’re entirely run by volunteers and rely on continuous fundraising to survive. The support from Fiona and projects like Tails of the World is invaluable.”
K9 Focus has an exciting calendar of events planned for 2025, including seven dog shows, a bingo night, a tattoo day, and a music evening. They’re also developing a fundraising pack to encourage supporters to organise their own events; "The bottom line is without fund raisers, we would not survive," Lynne comments.
