A new voice for Torbay: Gabriella-Mae Mitchell joins the Weekly

In the ever-evolving landscape of journalism, a new voice joins the newsroom at the Torbay Weekly.

I’m Gabriella-Mae Mitchell, and I’m thrilled to be stepping into this role as a reporter dedicated to telling the stories that matter most to our community.

I recently achieved a First Class Honours degree in Journalism, a milestone that reflects both my passion and commitment to the craft. Alongside my work with the Torbay Weekly, I also work as a BBC Radio Devon newsreader, an experience that has shaped my ability to deliver clear, engaging, and impactful stories.

For me, journalism is about connection. Torbay is full of powerful, inspiring, and sometimes overlooked stories, and I’m passionate about uncovering them. From local events and grassroots initiatives to deeply personal experiences, I want to reflect the true spirit of our community.

What excites me most about this role is the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life, to listen, to understand, and to share stories that resonate. I believe some of the most important stories are the ones happening right on our doorstep.
