A Torbay driving instructor has been recognised among the best in the country after winning a regional title at a major national awards ceremony.
Dan Endacott, from Ucan Drive SW, was awarded the Gold Award for Instructor of the Year for the South West at the Intelligent Instructor Awards 2026.
The ceremony took place in Milton Keynes on Saturday 21 March and brought together driving instructors, schools and industry suppliers from across the UK to celebrate excellence in the driver training profession.
The annual awards highlight high standards of training and service across the sector, recognising instructors who demonstrate exceptional commitment to helping learners become safe and confident drivers.
Mr Endacott had already been named among the top 100 driving instructors in the UK, and organisers said the latest award reflects his continued dedication to supporting pupils through their driving journey.
Ucan Drive SW provides both manual and automatic lessons for learners across Torbay, Newton Abbot, Teignmouth and surrounding areas.
The driving school said the award marks a significant milestone for both Mr Endacott and the wider team.
Mr Endacott said: “I’m incredibly proud to receive this award. It means a lot to be recognised at a national level and reflects not only my work, but the support of a great team around me.
“Helping pupils gain confidence and become safe drivers for life is what it’s all about.
“There’s nothing quite like hearing the examiner say, ‘Congratulations, you’ve passed’ — sharing that moment with pupils is a real buzz every time.”
