All the talk at Torquay United over the past week has been about finding a new permanent manager for the club but there are still points to be won, starting with the visit of Salisbury to Plainmoor tonight.
The Gulls have endured a rotten run of results, including the 3-0 weekend defeat at Ebbsfleet, but interim boss Neil Warnock believes there is enough quality in his squad to start finding the results that will reignite a promotion push.
If that is to be achieved, however, Warnock wants to hear a lot more chat from the players on the pitch.
“We’re trying to lift them because everybody is feeling a bit low with the results, which is quite understandable, but we’ve got some good players here,” he said.
“We need to talk more, help each other out. Even when we were down [at Ebbsfleet], I felt we could get back into the game but we’re giving away bad goals at the moment.
“Torquay United is a special place, I’ve loved coming back and watching games, and I want to make sure the fans can enjoy it. They were really good on Saturday, they can see the effort from the players, but we’ve got to be more clinical and we have the players to do that.
“We need a bit more confidence and not to worry about the past few weeks. I want to see the players enjoying the game.”
