A second suspicious object has been discovered on Torre Abbey Sands in Torquay, close to where a metal cylinder was found a day prior.
The first object, discovered by a metal detectorist on Saturday afternoon, prompted an emergency response and the temporary closure of the beach and nearby roads.
Explosive Ordnance Disposal officers examined it and confirmed it was an old diving cylinder.
A second item was later located nearby but is now submerged due to the rising tide. HM Coastguard said it will be inspected once the water recedes.
No further details about the second object have been released, and there is no suggestion it poses an immediate risk.
The incident is unrelated to a separate coastguard call-out on Friday evening involving reports of a vehicle in floodwater near Corbyn's Head. Emergency services confirmed no one was at risk and stood down after searches.
