The South-West’s biggest Supercar Show is returning to Exeter, and this year, Michael Schumacher’s 1993 Benetton Formula 1 racing car will be there with it.

Summer Sanctioned, an annual automotive event, will take place between 10 am and 4pm at the Matford Centre on Saturday, August 17.

Amidst the usual array of supercars, modified and classic cars, and motorbikes, the original, still fully operational car that Michael and fellow F1 driver Ricardo Patrese raced in the 1993 F1 season will be on display.

Michael drove this exact vehicle to victory in the Portuguese Grand Prix and achieved several podium finishes with it throughout the year.

This is an exciting and rare opportunity for Exeter locals to get up close and personal with a genuine F1 car, especially one driven by a racer who shares the record for seven World Drivers' Championship titles.

In addition to seeing the car up close, visitors will also receive a demonstration of how to get the car set up and prepared for driving.

Organisers have even arranged for the car to be started, so everyone will get a chance to hear the impressive 3.5 litre V8 Cosworth engine roar to life to over 12,000 rpm.

All vehicles will be located within the Matford Centre’s indoor supercar arena, alongside the UK’s only F1 car simulator in Ferrari branding.

Attendees can book a 15-minute slot where they can try out the simulator and experience what it feels like to ‘drive’ in an F1 race.

This will be the first time that this car has been displayed at any event in the South West, as it is normally only seen at places like Goodwood FOS and Silverstone.

There will be various motorsport displays featuring Group B rally cars as well as the other vehicles.

The event is being sponsored by The Porsche Centre Exeter, and there will be a Porsche Paddock, a selection of the latest models, an exclusive Porsche parade, as well as preferential tickets for all Porsche owners.

Tickets are priced at £14, accompanied under 16's receive free admission. They are available in advance via www.sanctioneduk.com
