One of Exeter’s most beloved street markets is back for another year. The Fore Street Flea returns to the West Quarter on Sunday 18 May, marking the first of four market days scheduled for 2025.
Now in its ninth year, the Flea has grown from a grassroots initiative launched by local traders in 2016 into a flagship event on the city’s cultural calendar.
Delivered by InExeter, the city’s Business Improvement District, the market brings together vintage traders, independent makers, food stalls and live entertainment for a lively day in the heart of the indie quarter.
Nicola Wheeler, CEO of InExeter, said: “As Exeter’s Business Improvement District, we’re proud to bring the Fore Street Flea to life. Set in the city’s vibrant indie quarter, the Flea is more than a market - it’s a celebration of creativity, community, and local spirit. Powered by passionate businesses, buzzing with fresh talent, and loved by loyal visitors, it’s a firm favourite in Exeter’s cultural calendar.”
Visitors can browse an eclectic mix of stalls selling pre-loved clothing, handmade crafts, art, homewares and vintage finds. Local favourites including Creeks Cuppa, Cake or Death, Sacred Grounds, Glorious Art House and The Flatwill be joined by Pesto Taste of Italy, Kanakos Cakes, and Edwards Fudge Kitchen, among others.
Live music will come from local performers Sam McCrory, Daniel Alexander Caute and Maz McNamara, while younger visitors can enjoy free family entertainment including a modern-day Punch & Judy show from Prom-Prom Promotions.
Ellie Taylor, ECI Manager and event organiser, said: “The Flea is a treasured market that offers something truly unique to the West Quarter. It's a lively hub where people come together to socialise and enjoy the area’s vibrant indie scene. Each market has its own character and buzz, shining a spotlight on the very best of the West Quarter while creating a fun and welcoming experience for all.”
