Looking for plans this weekend? From markets and art trails to world-class rugby, ’80s anthems and big-name comedy, Exeter and beyond are buzzing with things to do. Here’s our pick of the best.

6 September

CATHEDRAL GREEN MARKET 

Pick up vintage treasures, unique crafts and fresh local produce come together in the heart of the city. Stroll among stalls brimming with handmade creations, beautiful clothes and one-of-a-kind finds, all set against the stunning backdrop of Exeter Cathedral’s West Front. 11am–4pm. 

6–21 September

DEVON OPEN STUDIOS

Nearly 400 artists across Devon will throw open their studio doors to the public for this annual art event. Devon Open Studios offers a rare chance to step inside the spaces where art is made: attics, garden sheds, coastal cabins and converted barns, as well as established public venues like Positive Light Projects on Exeter’s Sidwell Street and The Sculpture School in North Tawton. This year, 170 venues are taking part, showcasing an extraordinary range of work - from painting, printmaking and sculpture to ceramics, glass, jewellery, textiles and handmade paper.

6 September

WOMEN'S RUGBY WORLD CUP 

England face Australia at 5pm in Brighton — and you can catch the action live on the big screen at Princesshay. For matches closer to home, head to Sandy Park for Canada v Scotland at midday, followed by Wales v Fiji at 2.45pm. rwc2025.rugbyworldcup.com

6 September

MARTIN KEMP: BACK TO THE 80s

Actor, TV personality and Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp will be brining the biggest hits of the ’80s to Exmouth Pavilion. Expect a night of pure nostalgia. 7pm start.

7 September

DARA Ó BRIAIN: RE:CREATION

One of Ireland’s finest comedians returns to the stage with Re:Creation — an evening of sharp storytelling, quick-fire improv and audience-fuelled chaos. A guaranteed laugh-out-loud night. 7.30pm start at Exeter Northcott Theatre.
