There are 17 games to go in the Sky Bet League One season and Exeter City are in a position of flux in the table.
The Grecians welcome a combative Northampton Town to St James Park on Saturday and three points would push the Grecians a tad closer to an unlikely play-off hunt.
However, City also have to counter the threat of being sucked back into a relegation fight after an excellent winter period that had taken Gary Caldwell’s men away from trouble.
The Cobblers of Northampton are lingering one point above the relegation zone but feeling better about life after a 3-1 win over Stevenage and booking a place in the EFL Trophy semi-finals.
Caldwell told the club website: "They are always a tough team to play against - they are always very physical and we need that defensive solidarity we've had all season and will have to have the same courage in possession we had in the first half last week and work on the finishing touches - be that a pass, cross or shot and just be more clinical.”
