Exeter City continued their recent unbeaten run with a determined 1-1 draw at home to Wigan Athletic.
The Grecians, who have beaten big rivals Plymouth Argyle, Arsenal U21s and Halifax Town in three different competitions over the past fortnight, had to survive some early pressure from the Latics.
Jason Kerr nodded wide from a corner and former Plymouth forward Callum Wright probably should have done better from a big chance, Joe Whitworth making the save for City.
Wright quickly made amends by breaking the deadlock on 24 minutes, darting into space to whip a fine finish beyond Whitworth from the edge of the box. Wigan continued to carve out the better openings, Whitworth saving again from Fraser Murray.
City needed something different in the second period and they duly delivered when Reece Cole raced down the wing and steered a perfect cross for the in-form Jayden Wareham to convert at the near post.
In truth, it was the one moment for the Grecians, who survived late scares from Wright and Christian Saydee, who had a goal disallowed for handball. Far from a vintage display by Exeter City, but another good point in a tough league.
