Exeter City are looking to extend their current winning run to four matches when Wigan Athletic dock at a soggy St James Park on Saturday.
The Grecians started this satisfying sequence with a fabulous win over Plymouth Argyle in the Devon derby, followed it with a thrilling defeat of Arsenal U21s in the EFL Trophy and then an efficient success at Halifax Town in the FA Cup.
Wigan, meanwhile, are also three games unbeaten and sit just four places above City in the Sky Bet League One table, but here is the biggest incentive for Exeter, as three points could lift them seven or eight places up the division, such is the tight nature of the third tier.
And best of all for many City fans, the big rivals along the A38 are languishing in the bottom four.
City boss Gary Caldwell told the club website: "Momentum is important as you build confidence and belief in what you are doing and that comes form consistent daily standards and behaviours and when those results come they give you confidence to keep doing that and winning more games.
"We know how difficult it is to win games in League One and we've got another tough one on Saturday but we are going in, in a really good place. There is real belief in the squad that we can keep going on this run but we know we have to be at our very best if we want to do that."
