The goal stopper signed this summer
Exeter City goalkeeper Jack Bycroft says he’s relishing the chance to pull on the Grecians’ shirt for the first time as City prepare to launch their Vertu Trophy campaign against Cardiff City on Tuesday night (September 16).
The 22-year-old summer signing could make his first-team debut in the 7pm kick-off at St James Park, as Gary Caldwell’s side look to start strongly against the Bluebirds.
“They’ve started the league campaign very well, coming down from the league above, so it’ll be a tough game for sure regardless of who they put out,” Bycroft said. “They will play front-foot attacking football and hopefully we can match that up and get right after them.”
Bycroft added that the Grecians will be taking the competition seriously:
“We will put out a strong team tomorrow and whoever we play, I think we go into the game wanting to win regardless of who it is. If we play a U21s team or a League One or League Two team – we go out to win every game.”
The keeper, who joined from Southampton in the summer window, says he’s already feeling at home in Devon.
“I’m really enjoying it,” he said. “We’ve got a great group of lads and a clear picture from the club and a good group of staff. I’ve been down here pretty much from the start. It’s a beautiful place to live and nice and quiet, which is what I like.”
Exeter City v Cardiff City kicks off at 7pm on Tuesday, September 16, at St James Park.
