'That goal was for Stanno'

Wareham made his mark for City

Fresh after scoring his first goal in red and white, Jayden Wareham gave his reaction to City's 4-1 win against Blackpool.

The Grecians' latest number nine flicked Jack Fitzwater's header home in the 60th minute to restore City's two goal advantage, after he had already set up Reece Cole's opener just four minutes in.

"That was a very good result, the lads are buzzing," said Jayden. "If you were in the changing room you would've seen that. It's a big win, it's something to work on going forward. Obviously wasn't the greatest of starts last weekend but we knew we had to make it right and we've done that.

"For myself on a personal note, definitely happy to get off the mark and we've done that."

Jayden was wearing the number nine shirt and after he scored, he pointed towards the Adam Stansfield Stand.

"It's an absolute honour, I promise that I will keep doing that celebration. It's a massive shirt to wear and I'm happy with the pressure of it.

"I know Stanno worked so hard and I know that tomorrow is his anniversary so that one's for him."
