Exeter City have confirmed that 19-year-old midfielder Pedro Borges has signed a new two-year contract, keeping him at St James Park until at least the end of the 2026/27 season.
The Portuguese-born academy graduate joined the Grecians in 2022 from Yeovil Town’s youth system and made his first team debut later that year in an EFL Trophy clash against Newport County. He made his Football League debut in April 2023 away at Bolton Wanderers.
Borges has followed a well-trodden path for Exeter academy players, gaining valuable experience through loan spells with Plymouth Parkway, Tiverton Town, Dorchester Town, Gosport Borough, and more recently, Weston-super-Mare, where he scored twice in 11 appearances during the second half of the 2024/25 season. He also featured eight times for Yeovil Town earlier in the same campaign.
“It feels so good, and it’s very exciting,” said Borges.
“I have worked so hard for it. I’ve had my highs and lows, and I want to thank God, my family and of course the club.”
“I’m injured at the moment, but I feel very good and can’t wait to get back on the pitch. My goal is to get back out there as soon as possible.”
City manager Gary Caldwell praised the youngster’s resilience and potential,“Pedro has had lots of ups and downs in his time at Exeter but we really believe in him as a player,” said Caldwell.
“He is a player with so many good attributes and we look forward to seeing those on the pitch next season once he’s recovered.”
Despite his current injury, the club were keen to tie Borges down for the future, signalling their long-term belief in his development.
