Phillips signs new deal

Meanwhile, 19-year-old goalkeeper Frankie Phillips has signed a one-year contract extension, with the club holding an option for a further year.

Phillips joined the Grecians last summer and spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Exmouth Town, where he kept 21 clean sheets and won the fans' player of the season award as the club reached the play-offs.

He returned to City to serve as substitute goalkeeper for the final match of the season away at Mansfield Town.

“Frankie has had an excellent season on loan and has adapted really well to full-time training with Kevin Miller and the other goalkeepers,” said manager Gary Caldwell.

“He is a young goalkeeper with lots of potential and we are all looking forward to working with him to see how much he develops again this season.”

Phillips added, “It feels brilliant. I can’t wait to get going next season and see what it holds.

Gary said to get fit over pre-season, get in the gym and be ready to work. Last season I did well, so now we’ll see where we go from here.”
