Grecians set for decisive home stretch

Mid-table Exeter City eye top-half push in final fixtures

Grecians set for decisive home stretch

Saturday’s clash with Wrexham may be sold out, but Exeter City’s unbeaten run is still alive and kicking - and there’s plenty of football still to come.

After a 1-1 draw away at Lincoln City, Gary Caldwell’s side made it six games unbeaten, climbing to 14th in the League One table. With just eight matches left - four at home, four away - City are firmly in the mix for a top-half finish.

Consistency has been the name of the game since February, with Exeter tightening up defensively and proving harder to break down. They’ve conceded just four goals in their last six, a marked improvement on the leaky form that plagued their early winter.

Now, the focus turns to their final four fixtures at St James Park, all of which could have a say in both ends of the table:

  • Stockport County – Saturday, 5 April

  • Wigan Athletic – Tuesday, 8 April

  • Burton Albion – Friday, 18 April

  • Huddersfield Town – Saturday, 26 April

Stockport and Wigan arrive with promotion ambitions, while Burton and Huddersfield are scrapping to avoid the drop. That mix of pressure and purpose should make for an intense April at SJP.

City’s job is to keep doing what they’ve done well in recent weeks: stay organised, be clinical when it counts, and turn draws into wins.

With momentum on their side and a chance to give supporters something to cheer about at home, there’s every reason to believe a strong finish is on the cards. Up the City!
