All set for 15 clubs to chase down the 2025 senior golf title
Senior golfers across the region are gearing up for the fifth addition of the South Devon Seniors League in 2025.
Stover GC will be defending their title, while Teignmouth were triumphant in the 2024 annual jamboree. Stover are due to play for the new Devon Seniors Club Champion Trophy representing SDSL vs the North Devon Veterans League winners Portmore in April.
The three pools have been drawn for this season, with Pool A comprising Thurlestone, Tiverton, East Devon, Crediton and Bovey Castle. Pool B includes Staddon, Bigbury, Churston, Teignmouth and Dainton, while Pool C features Dawlish Warren, Exeter, Torquay, Stover and Dartmouth.
The new SDSL Rule 8 for 2025 will require players to submit a minimum of five WHS qualifying cards in competition in the twelve months prior to a match.
Several new clubs including Honiton, Boringdon, Woodbury and Bovey Tracey applied to join the league in 2025. At the AGM last October, the fifteen club captains by majority vote decided to not expand the SDSL league for 2025. This will be revisited at the AGM at the end of the year.
Stover are hosting the Jamboree on Friday, September 19, when the format will revert to a rolling tee with twelve teams, five pairs per club, all scores to count.
The SDSL match format is six pairs, four ball better ball (4BBB) per club with five scores to count. The minimum age is 60 years on the day of the match and the maximum "Playing Handicap" is 24 (85% of Course Handicap).
