Exciting opportunity for junior footballers in May

Torquay United has announced the launch of a new annual VX3 youth football tournament, with the inaugural event taking place on the weekend of May 3 and 4.

For the first time, local teams in the Under-9, Under-10, Under-11 and Under-12 age groups will have the opportunity to compete for post-season glory on the hallowed Plainmoor turf.

The 2025 tournament will be proudly sponsored by United’s official kit suppliers VX3 and will be open to all teams currently partaking in the Devon Junior Minor League, Torbay Pioneer league, Exeter League and North Devon football leagues.

Each age group tournament will be limited to a maximum of 24 teams, with each 6-a-side team permitted a maximum squad of 11 players.

In addition to the fantastic footballing festival taking place on the pitch, there will plenty going on off the pitch to make this an occasion to remember for players, coaches and parents during the course of the weekend, with our Club Shop open, food and drink facilities on-site, and a designated Club Photographer on hand to capture those magical moments!

Torquay United Community Sports Trust manager Matt Anthony is eagerly anticipating this exciting new event in the Plainmoor calendar.

“We’re really looking forward to this event and hosting grassroots teams from across the South West. We’ll have the perfect opportunity to see the local footballing talent, which we know there is a lot of.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for the young players to play on Plainmoor pitch, something which we haven’t been able to offer in a very long time!”
