Exeter City is thrilled to announce that midfielder Caleb Watts has signed a contract extension, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2024/25 season.
Since joining the team in September 2023, Watts has made 30 appearances and quickly established himself as a fan favourite. His debut was nothing short of a dream, scoring the only goal against Cheltenham Town just 24 hours after signing.
This season, he’s continued to impress, making 19 appearances and contributing key moments, including the winning goal on the opening day against Rotherham United and a brilliant assist against Oxford United.
Speaking about the extension, Watts said, “It was an easy decision to make. The club has kept faith in me through injuries, especially the gaffer, so I want to repay that faith.
I feel like I’ve shown glimpses of what I can do, but I’m capable of much more, and hopefully, I can deliver that in the second half of the season.”
Manager Gary Caldwell praised Watts’ commitment and progress: “Caleb has been brilliant in recent months, and it’s testament to his hard work and the efforts of our fitness staff. He’s starting to show the form we believed he could when we signed him. We hope he can continue to have a big impact and stay with the club for years to come.”
In other news, 19-year-old midfielder Kamari Doyle has been recalled by his parent club Brighton & Hove Albion. The decision comes after both clubs agreed to end his season-long loan with Exeter City to ensure he gets more game time elsewhere.
Doyle made 24 appearances in all competitions for Exeter, scoring four goals, including a memorable free-kick in the victory over Bolton Wanderers. Manager Gary Caldwell praised the young talent, saying, “Kamari is a fantastic player with immense potential. The physicality of League One is tough, but if he keeps working, I’m confident he’ll have an amazing career.”
Exeter City thanks Kamari Doyle for his contributions in red and white and wishes him every success in the future.
