Exeter City has bolstered their squad with the loan signing of 19-year-old winger Tony Yogane from Premier League side Brentford. The exciting prospect will remain with the Grecians until the end of the 2024/25 season.
Tony, a product of Sheffield Wednesday’s youth academy, joined Brentford’s B team at 16 in 2022. He enjoyed a breakout season last year, making 29 appearances for the Bees’ B team and earning two first-team friendly outings during the 2023/24 pre-season.
This season, he has featured heavily for Brentford’s B team and made his first competitive senior appearance as a substitute in Brentford’s Carabao Cup win against Leyton Orient.
Speaking about the move, Exeter City manager Gary Caldwell expressed his excitement: “Tony is a player that has been on our radar for a little while now. He had interest from other League One clubs, so I’m delighted he chose to join us. He’s an exciting attacking player, excellent in 1v1 situations with his speed and power. This is his first professional loan, so we’ll ensure he gets the support he needs to thrive.”
Tony’s arrival marks another successful link between Exeter City and Brentford, following impactful loan spells for Ryan Trevitt and Tristan Crama. Caldwell added: “This loan strengthens our relationship with Brentford. Tony is a confident and hungry young player, and we’re excited to work with him.”
Tony shared his enthusiasm on his first day in Exeter: “I’m happy to be here and can’t wait to get started. Tristan and Ryan spoke highly of the club and the city, and they said I’d enjoy it here. It’s a great opportunity to show what I can do.”
When asked about his playing style, Tony described himself as a creative, attacking player: “I’m looking to bring excitement, goals, and assists. I want to focus on my game and make an impact at SJP. I’ve heard great things about the fans and can’t wait to show what I can do.”
Tony Yogane is expected to add pace and flair to Exeter City’s attack as they look to build on their strong start to the season. Brentford might have the Bees, but the Grecians are buzzing to have Tony in red and white. Welcome to Exeter, Tony!
