Exeter City Women's game against Ipswich Town, originally scheduled for Sunday, January 5, has been postponed due to severe weather conditions.
A local referee inspected the pitch and, considering the freezing temperatures and heavy rainfall forecast overnight, deemed it unplayable. The decision prioritises the safety of players, officials, and supporters.
Details about the rearranged fixture and ticketing will be announced in due course.
The Met Office predicts a cold and unsettled weekend across the region, contributing to the postponement decision. Saturday will see a dry and frosty start, but rain, sleet, and snow will spread from the southwest by the afternoon, accompanied by strong winds.
Snow is likely to turn to rain later, with a risk of freezing rain over higher ground, such as Exmoor. Temperatures are expected to peak at just 3°C.
Overnight, rain will persist across Devon, easing by dawn in Cornwall but leaving icy conditions in its wake. Minimum temperatures could plummet to -3°C.
Sunday is forecast to bring slightly milder conditions, though rain will remain patchy. Temperatures may reach 3°C during the day before dipping again as rain returns in the evening.
Looking ahead to Monday and Tuesday, the region is expected to turn drier but colder, with sunny spells and scattered wintry showers. Frost and icy patches are likely overnight, particularly as temperatures drop once again.
City fans are advised to stay updated via the club’s official channels for news about the rescheduled match.
