Demetri Mitchell returned after a long break

364 days after suffering an ACL injury, Exeter City midfielder Demetri Mitchell has been reflecting on scoring the winner at Bristol Rovers.

Mitchell lashed home Vince Harper's delivery to secure top spot in Group G in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy at the Memorial Stadium, following up goals from Jay Bird and Milli Alli.

He said: "The supporters have been with me since day one, spurring me on to get back fit, and I want to replay the faith to the club, the manager and the fans.

"It feels surreal, really. It was a really difficult time for me and I've had a few little niggles along the way. I knew I had to get back and I'm so pleased to be back.

"The manager told me to go out and enjoy myself and express myself. I always had his full backing since the day I got here. I know I've been out a bit longer than expected but I just want to repay the faith now."
