Sixth defeat for Chiefs

Exeter Chiefs suffered another defeat to Harlequins

Exeter Chiefs suffered another defeat to Harlequins

Exeter Chiefs struggled to get their foothold in the game as Harlequins took a bonus point win at Sandy Park to lengthen Chiefs’ tough start to the Gallagher Premiership season.

The home side's defence was stretched in the early stages as Quins looked for weak links in the Exeter line.

Chiefs were reduced to 14 men for the final seven minutes of the encounter when Woodburn looked to have suffered a hamstring issue, and the Chiefs were all out of replacement options.

As Rob Baxter's men tried desperately to hold onto the glimmer of being within range of some gritty work seeing the result go their way, Danny Care broke down the near touchline. He dropped a chip kick off the boot and fellow replacement Cadan Murley ran onto it for the try.

Evans’ conversion was the last marker on the game as despite there being time for a restart, Quins kicked it dead as the clock struck 80 to seal Chiefs’ fate.

The final score was Exeter Chiefs 19 - Harlequins 36.
