Exeter City secure fine win on the road
Exeter City banished the painful memories of a 7-0 loss at Bolton Wanderers last season to record an outstanding 2-0 victory at the Trotters in Sky Bet League One.
The Grecians broke the deadlock with a sweet strike from debutant Kamari Doyle on 34 minutes, marking his arrival on loan from Brighton with a tremendous free-kick.
Doyle then provided the corner for Josh Magennis to flick the ball into the path of Millenic Alli early in the second half, doubling the advantage from close range. Exeter then stayed firm amid a barrage of Bolton attacks to secure three excellent points.
City boss Gary Caldwell told the club website: "We played with a strong mentality today and it is a superb result.
"I still think we can be better and that will always be a mindset. In the second half, it's how we keep possession, but we have players coming back from injury. We need to have a fully fit squad to do what we want to do.
"To win away from home is never easy, so I'm delighted with the lads today but we have to follow that up now.
"We always talk about defending from the front and we did that superbly today."
