Back in contention to play, Ryan Woods has shared his thoughts on this afternoon's match against Peterborough United at St James Park (August 24, KO 3pm).
Due to the summer break, it’s been a long time since the midfielder received a red card but he’s ready and raring to get back out on the pitch at St James Park this weekend.
“I think overall since I got the red card and it’s been what nearly four months which has been crazy,” Ryan said. “I’m absolutely buzzing to get going to be honest with you. It’s been really frustrating for me, it is what it is, I knew it was coming, I had to deal with it."
While he’s been suspended, Ryan has been taking in City’s opening fixtures from a different angle, watching how the team play from just behind the dugouts, something which has given him a taster for his post-playing days.
“It’s been really interesting and really good for me to be able to see the game from another view. I’ve been sitting close to the coaches so I can hear and see what they’re doing as well.
“That’s something that interests me moving forwards as well, eventually. That’s been a positive for me of the suspension.
“My full focus is obviously on coming back in on Saturday and trying to help the team as much as possible.”
